Major administrative shake-up in Punjab: movement of 31 officers, including 15 IAS officials

In a significant development, the Punjab government carried out a substantial reshuffle of administrative officers on Wednesday, resulting in the reassignment of 37 officers, including 15 from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). This overhaul also involved the transfer of deputy commissioners from Mansa and Malerkotla.

Reorganization Across Departments

The administrative changes spanned various departments, with officers being reassigned to different roles to enhance efficiency and governance. Kumar Rahul, for instance, has been newly designated as the secretary of the jails department. Similarly, Kamal Kishore Yadav is now appointed as the secretary of the education department while simultaneously taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Bureau of Investment Promotion. Arshdeep Singh Thind has been designated as the taxation commissioner of Punjab, succeeding Yadav.

Prominent Appointments and Transfers

Shruti Singh, who previously held the position of secretary for revenue and rehabilitation along with being the Resident Commissioner at Punjab Bhawan in New Delhi, now takes on responsibilities as the secretary for personnel, vigilance, and general administration. Furthermore, she will continue to oversee the role of Resident Commissioner at Punjab Bhawan. Additionally, Ravi Bhagat, the Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, now holds the charge of secretary for new and renewal energy sources, filling a vacant position.

Deputy Commissioner Reshuffling

The reshuffling extended to the deputy commissioners as well. Sanyam Aggarwal, the Deputy Commissioner of Malerkotla, has been reassigned as the Joint Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company. Pallavi, who previously held the position of Assistant Deputy Commissioner in Bathinda, now assumes the role of Deputy Commissioner in Malerkotla.

Mansa's Deputy Commissioner, Rishi Pal Singh, is set to become the Jalandhar Municipal Commissioner. Similarly, Khanna's Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Parambir Singh, has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Mansa. In a chain reaction, Bathinda's Municipal Commissioner, Rahul, will now assume the position of Amritsar's Municipal Commissioner, replacing Sandeep Rishi.

A New Phase in Punjab's Administration

This reshuffle marks a significant phase in Punjab's administrative landscape, aimed at optimizing the skills and expertise of officers across various sectors.
